Baptism

"When we understand our baptismal covenant and the gift of the Holy Ghost, it will change our lives and will establish our total allegiance to the kingdom of God. When temptations come our way, if we will listen, the Holy Ghost will remind us that we have promised to remember our Savior and obey the commandments of God." Elder Robert D. Hales
Sometimes we take our baptism for granted. In 2nd Nephi:31, The voice of the Son tells us that if we are baptised in His name, the Father will give us the Holy Ghost. He says, follow Me and do the things which you have seen Me do. Eternal life comes to those who keep the commandments after baptism.

Isaiah ????????

I just finished reading the words of Isaiah in 2nd Nephi. Wow, can someone explain? I did feel a little better when I read in Ch. 25 where Nephi wrote that Isaiah's words are hard for many people to understand. Nephi tells us that Isaiah's words shall be of great worth in the last days and they will be understood.

Chocolate River!!!

It is so uplifting to read all of your posts family. My kids and I are plugging along slowly but surely. We only read a Chapter a morning so we are a bit behind. A couple of days ago we read Lehi's dream. LOVE that chapter!! I couldn't help but be reminded that my kids use to call the River the "chocolate river". We had the animated stories from the Book of Mormon and they would always want to watch the one with the "chocolate river". Maybe they were combining that movie with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or something. Who knows? I do know there are many temptations as we move forward holding to the iron rod. However, chocolate is the one temptation I don't think I could live without. If it was chocolate river, would I take a swim? Hmmm I don't know!!! Don't worry I set my kids straight a long time ago. Hopefully now they have their eye on the fruit!!!

Behold...

I learned what BEHOLD means and it’s a good thing to know since it is said 3,200 times in the scriptures. It means pay attention to what is about to be said or observe with care… but a deeper meaning is... It comes from the Hebrew word Beholden which means one is obligated to. So basically when behold is used before something in the scriptures it is saying now that you know this you are obligated to do it. That obligation will carry over into the judgment. So every time you are reading the scriptures and you come across the word BEHOLD stop yourself and ask if you are ready to live the following words of God. Kind of interesting no? It was also brought to my attention that the Book of Mormon covers two levels of spiritual power…. In the beginning the BOM will provide a strong testimony for you and the 2nd level will provide you with the doctrine of your covenants. So… the BOM will help you testimony reach a level where you desire to make covenants with the Lord. Then when you make those covenants the BOM is still be there to train you with the doctrine of those covenants. I love it! I bet ya all already knew that, but it’s just some great incite that I’ve discovered and couldn’t help sharing. As far as my reading goes… I finished 2nd Nephi but kind of in a blur so I’m counting on you guys to help me translate it and make it make sense. Ps thanks to everyone who is posting. I wish we had a way that we could read at the same pace and discuss individual chapters but I don’t know how that could happen. I also added Grandma King to this so Welcome Grandma if you are reading this!
